By: E&P Staff Suburban Newspapers of America (SNA) has named Chris Krug, executive editor of the Northwest Herald outside Chicago, its Editor of the Year for Daily Newspapers.
Krug will be honored at the Spring Publisher?s Conference Editorial Awards Banquet in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., on Feb. 21.
According to President Nancy Lane, this year?s contest was the closest in its history.
Judges from the American Press Institute praised 39-year-old Krug, now entering his fifth year as editor, on ?an exemplary year. From a powerful look at issues facing McHenry County to innovative online approaches to competing in the Chicago market, he has been ahead of the curve.?
SNA, a nonprofit trade association, represents 2,400 suburban and community newspapers in North America.
