By: Mary Jacobus, a veteran newspaper executive who headed The New York Times Co.'s Regional Media Group before her death in February, was honored with the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association's top leadership award.
The Frank W. Mayborn Leadership Award presented Monday was among a series of newspaper awards handed out during the SNPA's annual meeting.
The Mayborn award recognizes outstanding SNPA publishers and editors for their vision, leadership and significant contributions to the newspaper industry.
Jacobus, president and chief operating officer of the Times' regional newspaper group and a former publisher of the Duluth News-Tribune, died of a sudden cerebral hemorrhage at age 52.
