By: E&P Staff Effective July 1, PAGE Cooperative General Manager John Snyder will become the newspaper purchasing cooperative's CEO. Outgoing CEO Chuck Berky will remain in an advisory capacity as founder and CEO emeritus for the next 12 months.
Assistant General Manager and Technical Services Director Steve Schroeder will become general manager and retain his Technical Services responsibilities.
"Our leadership position today is due in part to the determination and drive of Chuck, who has unfailingly served the cooperative." Snyder said in a statement. "The advance announcement of Chuck's transition... assures our members/owners that the level of services they are accustomed to receiving will be uninterrupted," he added.
The industry's largest purchasing cooperative, PAGE (Publishers Associated to Gain Economy) is owned by approximately 270 corporate entities -- representing over 570 dailies circulating more than 11 million copies -- and roughly 1,700 publishing locations throughout the U.S. For membership, a newspaper must be over 50% privately held and publish in the general interest.
