Some Scripps Contest Judges Are From the Features Biz

By: E&P Staff Several people with ties to syndicates, news services, and cartooning are among the 43 judges of Scripps Howard Foundation's 2008 National Journalism Awards.

They include Scripps Howard News Service Editor/General Manager Peter Copeland, United Media Senior Vice President/General Manager Lisa Klem Wilson, "FoxTrot" cartoonist, Bill Amend of Universal Press Syndicate, and Ohio State University Cartoon Research Library Associate Curator Jenny Robb.

Winners will be announced March 7 and honored April 18. The 17 award categories include commentary, editorial cartooning, and college cartooning.

The naming of judges was mentioned today on Alan Gardner's Daily Cartoonist blog.
