South Florida Sun-Sentinel of Fort Lauderdale has built a news partnership with WFTL-850 AM, owned by James Crystal Radio Group, a locally owned network of stations in South Florida.
Branded "Live 85," the station recently launched a 24-hour news/talk format and boosted its signal.
The Tribune Co. newspaper will share news and facilities, with reports by
Sun-Sentinel reporters on columnists running on air. A daily one-hour news/talk program is planned to be broadcast live from the newspaper's newsroom, and the two partners plan to cross-promote each other.
"Radio news is a great way for us to expand our reach,"
Sun-Sentinel President and Publisher Bob Gremillion said in a statement.
