Spanish-Language Paper Launched in Iowa

By: (AP) Spanish-speaking residents in two eastern Iowa counties can now keeps tabs on the news for free.

A new Spanish speaking newspaper was published Friday by the Muscatine Journal. The newspaper, called Hispanos Unidos, will be published monthly and distributed at select sites in Muscatine and Louisa counties.

The Muscatine Journal's publisher, Lisa Sievers, says the newspaper's goal is to inform and create a tie between the Hispanic community and the general public.

The newspaper will provide local, national, and international news, cultural and entertainment features, comics, and sports.

The area's Hispanic population has grown in recent years at a pace faster than the general population.
