'Spider-Man' Comic Books to Be Inserted in Newspapers

By: E&P Staff News America Marketing and Marvel Entertainment are offering "Amazing Spider-Man" comic book reprints as inserts in newspapers.

The first insert, which reprints 1962's inaugural "Spider-Man" comic book, is slated to appear this Sunday. Other installments of the webslinger's adventures will be available weekly through December.

Clients for the free inserts include the New York Post and the Chicago Sun-Times. The Sun-Times reported that 122 newspapers will be participating.

Stan Lee's "Spider-Man" creation already appears in newspapers via a 1977-launched comic strip distributed by King Features Syndicate.

The comic book inserts were mentioned today on Tom Spurgeon's ComicsReporter.com and Alan Gardner's DailyCartoonist.com.
