By: E&P Staff The Society of Professional Journalists has announced the winners for 2006 of the Sigma Delta Chi Awards for excellence in journalism. The entries were selected from among 1,200 entries in 49 different categories, and the awards will be presented in Washington D.C. in July.
"These awards represent the best of American journalism," SPJ President Christine Tatum said in a written statement. "In an age when it is increasingly difficult to differentiate between fact and opinion and news and entertainment, the outstanding work of these journalists is a powerful reminder of the importance of ethical and responsible news gathering that is of true public service. This award winning work is what all journalists should strive to deliver every day."
