Sportswriter Sues Media General for Overtime

By: E&P Staff A Florida reporter claims he is owed years worth of back pay for his work at the Tampa Tribune.

Former Tampa Tribune sportswriter Brett McMurphy filed a lawsuit against the paper's parent company Media General seeking compensation for extra hours, reports the St. Petersburg Times.

McMurphy alleges he was not paid for overtime -- any work completed after 40 hours per week is considered overtime -- from Feb. 1, 2007 through Oct. 1, 2009. The Times said a Tribune manager authorized to comment was not available. A Tribune account of the lawsuit included no reference to comment from the newspaper or Media General.
