'St. Louis Journalism Review' Moves to Southern Illinois U. at Carbondale

By: E&P Staff The St. Louis Journalism Review -- the last surviving local media watchdogs left from the 1970s era of journalism reviews -- will move to the School of Journalism at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) in July under a plan announced Saturday.

Under SIUC planned ownership, SJR, as the journalism review is known, will ultimately broden its reach into other Midwestern states.

But the name of the publication will be retained and its focus will continue to be the St. Louis metro region. Roy Malone will remain editor while SIUC professor. William A. Babcock, known for his work on media ethics, will serve as editor in chief. "He will solicit commentary and news on the media in Midwestern states from Ohio to Oklahoma and Arkansas to Minnesota and beyond," the SJR announcement said.
