By: E&P Staff The St. Louis Post-Dispatch said it eliminated 39 jobs Friday by moving its circulation call center functions to The Times in Munster, Ind., and outsourcing distribution to a sibling company.
P-D circulation delivery has been transferred to STL Distribution Services, a St. Louis-based company that already delivers The Wall Street Journal, Investors Business Daily, and the Financial Times.
STL Distribution, the Times in Munster and the Post-Dispatch are all owned by Davenport, Iowa-based Lee Enterprises.
Of the 39 jobs eliminated, 36 were in circulation and three in the classified advertising department, the P-D said in an unbylined article on its Web site.
"This work force reduction is necessary and difficult for everyone," Post-Dispatch Publisher Kevin Mowbray said in a statement. "These Lee properties have provided the Post-Dispatch with excellent service in the past and will continue to do so by handling all call center and distribution functions."
