'St. Petersburg Times' Launches Young Adult Tab

Posted
By: E&P Staff The St. Petersburg Times has jumped on the young-adult bandwagon as the paper announced today the launch of a weekly free tab, tbt (an acronym for Tampa Bay Times). Aimed at 25- to 35-year olds, the paper is published on Fridays and will have an initial distribution of 75,000 copies.

"Adults in this age group have wide interests and plenty of options about how to satisfy them. The only thing they're short of is time," Paul Tash, editor and chairman of Times Publishing, said in a statement. "We're confident we can give them a newspaper that is local, useful and fun. There's nothing else like it on the market."

The paper plans to be "zippy" with short articles about news and entertainment, a formula used by youth publications across the country.

Today's debut issue has 96 pages of news and advertising and this week's cover story touts 25 reasons to love the pro-football Tampa Bay Bucs.
