'Star Trib' Expands Suburban Coverage

Posted
By: E&P Staff The Star Tribune of Minneapolis plans to launch a suburban weekly news section covering the northern suburbs of the Twin Cities. The paper recently unveiled sections for the southern and western burbs.

Publisher and President J. Keith Moyer announced today that Star Tribune North will launch Oct. 6. He said this would be another step in a long-term strategic suburban plan.

"We have had instant success with our suburban weeklies in the south and west with both readers and advertisers," he said. "Clearly there is a strong market demand for this type of product, and as the region's leading news and information provider, we intend to continue filling the need in these fast growing parts of our market."

Moyer said the Star Tribune has already increased its daily suburban coverage by creating a new suburban desk in the newsroom with a staff dedicated to reporting on suburban issues across the market. As with the south and west sections, the new north section will have its own reporting, photography and editing staff.
