By: Joe Strupp Stars and Stripes Chief Operating Officer Max D. Lederer Jr. has been selected as publisher of the military newspaper. Lederer had been served as acting publisher along with his COO post since the 2007 retirement of former publisher Thomas Kelsch.
The release on Lederer's appointment notes that he served as general counsel for European Stars and Stripes beginning in 1992, and was selected as general manager in 1996.
In 2000, Lederer was selected as the general manager and general counsel of Stars and Stripes? new headquarters in Washington, D.C., and assumed responsibility for global business operations and legal matters. He became COO in 2003, managing the business operations and legal affairs for Stars and Stripes in Europe, Pacific, Middle East, and the United States.
