Sergio Bustos came to the Miami Herald as a politics editor in 2005 after more than 20 years as a newspaper reporter. He’d started out at the Philadelphia Inquirer, worked as a Washington correspondent for Gannett, and covered immigration for the Arizona Republic. He thought the Herald would be his last stop.
