Posted Thursday, December 13, 2007 12:00 am

By: Meg Campbell The Steamboat Pilot & Today printing plant in Steamboat Springs, Colo., tore out one half of its Goss Community press and a folder earlier this week to make room for two new four-high G135 color towers manufactured by Global Web Systems of Villa Park, Ill.

"We needed more color,"says Steamboat?s pressroom manager Dan Schuelke. "We could only put one web,and now we [will be able to] pull two full webs of color."

Down the road, Schuelke adds, the company may try to recondition the Goss units that have been taken out in order to add increase color even more.

The plant prints The Craig Daily Press, Steamboat Pilot & Today, the and Hayden Valley Press, all owned by WorldWest LLC of Lawrence, Kan., as well as commercial work.

How Dublin Inquirer uses legal risk assessments to keep accountability journalism moving

When Dublin Inquirer publishes a sensitive accountability story, the challenge isn’t just reporting the facts. It’s deciding whether a small, seven-person newsroom can afford the legal risks that sometimes come with telling the public what it needs to know. For editor and co-founder Sam Tranum and deputy editor Lois Kapila, those decisions once came down to late-night conversations and educated guesswork. Today, the independent Dublin newsroom relies on Reporters Shield’s Legal Risk Assessment service to help identify potential legal vulnerabilities before publication—allowing journalists to move forward with greater confidence while keeping important stories alive.
