Las Vegas Review-Journal parent company Stephens Media LLC has acquired the Lincoln County Record, a weekly in rural eastern Nevada that has been publishing since 1870.

Stephens bought the Record from the Pioche Record Publishing Co., which was operated for 30 years by Lom and Cecelia Thompson. Most recently, their son, Raymond Thompson, was the 2,000-circulation newspaper’s publisher and editor.

"The Record is a vital resource in Lincoln County," Geoff Schumacher, Stephens Media's director of community publications, said in a statement. "We intend to build on its great reputation and bring new resources to the effort of delivering timely and accurate local news and information."

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
