Stone Ellis Named Clarksdale Press Register Publisher

By: Nekoro Gomes Stone Ellis has been named publisher of The Clarksdale (Miss.) Press Register. He replaces outgoing publisher Ronnie Cupstid, who is moving to pursue different business interests.

Ellis, the nephew of the late Press Register owner and publisher Joe Ellis, returns to the Press Register where he worked as an advertising sales representative from 1977 through 1985.

Previously, he worked as Advertising Director for The Sun (Miss.) Herald in Biloxi, Miss.

Ellis told reporters he plans to focus the paper on more local coverage and to rebuild advertising revenue that was damaged by Hurricane Katrina's effect on local businesses.
