Study: Going Online Essential for Most Teens

Posted
By: E&P Staff A survey released today by Burst Media found that over two-thirds of teenagers surveyed said that if they had no Internet access outside of school it would "ruin" or make their day "not as good." Additionally, over one-third of the 1800 respondents saids they spend more than three hours each day online.

"The Internet accounts for a significant portion of a teen's overall media time. It is also rarely consumed on its' own and without distractions. These distractions are part and parcel of a teen's life. Corralling these distractions to minimize their disruption is a significant challenge for marketers," says Chuck Moran, Manager of Market Research for Burst Media.

The report also found that three out of five teens had visited a social networking site like MySpace or Friendster.
