'Sun' Sells Scent

Customers with a nose for news or seeking what its marketers call an "essence of pure entertainment" may want a sniff of The Sun's new scent.

In collaboration with Roja Dove, the London tabloid this week launched Buzz perfume, which Reuters reported as an effort "to mix the style of actress Sarah Jessica Parker, the charisma of film siren Sophia Loren, the intoxicating sass of R&B singer Beyonce and the girl-next-door charm of Cheryl Cole."

The Guardian's description was shorter: "It may sound like a sex toy, but fortunately it doesn't smell like one."

Custom parfumier Dove said he hoped the scent will make women feel as glamorous as celebrities in newspapers and on TV.

A 50ml bottle of Buzz sells for £59 ($91) at Dove's Urban Retreat, on the fifth floor of Harrod's.
