By: E&P Staff Earl Maucker, editor and senior vice president of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale, was named winner of the Tribune Co. Management Award at the company's annual meeting Tuesday.
Tribune Chairman, President and CEO Dennis J. FitzSimons said the award recognized the design and content changes at the Sun-Sentinel that have increased readership significantly. FitzSimons also noted that this year, the paper was a three-time Pulitzer Prize finalist.
The Tribune Co. Values Award went to the nine-person team that created TheEnvelope.com for the Los Angeles Times. The Academy Award and entertainment-oriented site has already generated $500,000 in incremental revenue, FitzSimons said.
Both prizes come with a $20,000 cash award.
