By: E&P Staff Earlier this year, the Chicano Tribune bumped its weather report to an inside page of its Metro section to sell the back page as premium ad space. Monday, it acknowledged it mostly earned reader wrath.
"Readers told us we made a mistake when we moved Tom Skilling's WGN-TV weather report from the back page of the Metro section," the paper said in a front-page editor's note. "We listened. So today, Tom's weather report is returning to its original easy-to-find home on the back page of Section 2, Monday through Friday."
In Monday's edition, the weather page had a three-inch-high ad that ran across all six columns.
Skilling is a popular weatherman at WGN, a superstation owned, like the newspaper, by Tribune Co.
His forecast for Monday in Chicago called for increasing humidity and a high of 86 -- cooler, as usual, by the lake.
