Springville, UT (PRWEB)
Digital Technology International (DTI) has signed an agreement with Sun-Times Media, a Wrapports company, to deploy a new circulation and audience engagement solution via DTI Cloud, the company’s award-winning cloud environment. This large-scale deployment marks a major expansion of Digital Technology cloud-based solutions at Sun-Times Media.
Sun-Times Media serves more than 300 communities across the greater Chicago region with media properties including the flagship, the Chicago Sun-Times.
Along with strong marketing and audience management tools, Sun-Times Media needed a unified circulation system for the group’s end-to-end operations. They also wanted the same cost-efficient DTI Cloud platform for circulation that they have with their DTI editorial software. DTI Circulation is a powerful solution for Sun-Times Media that will manage and package all subscription data—digital and print—as audience demand grows for new digital channels.
“We wanted to avoid the costs associated with an on-premises system—like resources, infrastructure, etc. And, we wanted a mechanism to keep pace with where the technology is going,” said Jeff Kane, vice president, technology, Sun-Times Media. “Our successful implementation (of DTI ContentPublisher) led us back to DTI Cloud since we are applying a similar concept to circulation.”
Sun-Times Media has the largest DTI ContentPublisher deployment via DTI Cloud.
Each day, Sun-Times Media distributes the news to more than 300 communities across Illinois and into Indiana, including Chicago’s top circulated newspaper, the Chicago Sun-Times. The Chicago Sun-Times is also the ninth-circulated newspaper in the country.
With growing digital and print publications and applications (apps) in the works, Sun-Times Media’s current environment, which includes multiple publications with legacy circulation apps on multiple platforms, has made it difficult from a reporting and product packaging standpoint. DTI Circulation is a technology-driven solution that gives Sun-Times Media the ability to package print and digital products in flexible combinations and bundles.
PCI compliance—the safeguarding of customers’ payment card data—was imperative for Sun-Times Media.
Kane states, “PCI compliance was a critical component to our vendor selection decision. We wanted a vendor that had the experience and knowledge to ensure we were not open to any credit card data security issues. The methodology DTI uses protects us from this and complies with the current PCI standards.”
Sun-Times Media continues to see Digital Technology as their technology partner.
“We knew how important PCI compliance is to Sun-Times Media. This is a challenging and complex issue that we have addressed in a responsible way to give our customers peace of mind. DTI Circulation is the most widely-adopted circulation system in the world because it constantly evolves to meet the emerging needs of the industry,” said Dan Paulus, president, Digital Technology. “Sun-Times Media is a key customer and development partner. This circulation/cloud expansion validates our strong partnership with Sun-Times Media.”
In addition to the Chicago Sun-Times, Sun-Times Media includes Suntimes.com; seven suburban daily newspapers, including the Beacon-News (Aurora, Ill.), Courier-News (Elgin, Ill.), Herald-News (Joliet, Ill.), Lake County News-Sun (Waukegan, Ill.), Post-Tribune (Merrillville, Ind.) and the SouthtownStar (Tinley Park, Ill.); 32 weekly Pioneer products, as well as websites for those newspapers, centerstagechicago.com, RogerEbert.com, SearchChicago.com and YourSeason.com.
