Sun-Times Media Promotes Two in Operations

By: E&P Staff Chicago-based Sun-Times Media Group Inc. announced two promotions, following last month's promotion of Rick Surkamer to chief operating officer of the Sun-Times News Group, the company's operating subsidiary.

Distribution Vice President Kevin King was named operations vice president, and Production Director Tony Triner is now production vice president.

King, 51, moves into Surkamer's previous position, where he oversees prepress, production, distribution, facilities and procurement. Before joining the company in June, King worked for the Chas. Levy Circulating Co. Earlier he worked for for the Chicago Tribune as operations transportation manager.

Triner, 50, is responsible for company printing plants. A 25-year company veteran who has held a variety of positions in newspaper production operations, Triner reports to King, who reports to Surkamer.
