By: E&P Staff Sun-Times Media Group (STMG) said late Monday it is outsourcing the printing of it 39 non-daily pioneer Press and The Doings newspapers to Journal Sentinel Inc., publisher of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
STMG said its principal operating subsidy Sun-Times News Group had signed a definitive three-year agreement with Journal Sentinel. Other terms were not disclosed.
The outsourcing follows the recent announcement that STMG was shutting down its Northfield, Ill., plant, which had printed the community papers.
"This agreement with Journal Sentinel allows Pioneer Press to better serve our advertisers and our readers with modern equipment and more color and other quality opportunities, while generating significant savings for the Sun-Times News Group," John Barron, publisher of Pioneer Press Publications, said in a statement.
