By: Mark Fitzgerald The Chicago Sun-Times launched a new marketing effort Thursday, branding itself the "official paper" of Chicago activities.
In three of the ads, the Sun-Times calls itself the "Official Paper" of the weekend, the commute, and sports. A fourth ad -- playing on the paper's prize-winning investigation into Chicago's Hired Truck scandal -- refers to the paper as "unofficial" paper of City Hall.
The ads all include a come-on for home delivery: "Make it official. Subscribe today."
Ads will appear on mass-transit buses and trains and in radio spots. The paper said it would also buy a schedule on cable television.
The latest campaign retains the slogan referring to the Sun-Times as "The Bright One," a tagline from the 1980s that the tabloid revived last year.
