'Sun-Times' Spotlights the Best Cartoons in Its History

Posted
By: E&P Staff The Chicago Sun-Times, as one way of marking its 60th birthday, republished some of its best editorial cartoons Sunday in its print edition and on SunTimes.com.

Making the selections was current cartoonist Jack Higgins, who joined the Sun-Times in 1981 and won a Pulitzer Prize in 1989.

The paper's cartoonists have included Bill Mauldin, John Fischetti, and Jacob Burck.

Mauldin's most famous Sun-Times cartoon -- and one of the most famous of all time -- was drawn after John F. Kennedy was assassinated. It showed a grieving Abraham Lincoln statue in the Lincoln Memorial.
