Support, Service, Equipment from Print Packaging Network

Posted
By: E&P Staff David George, owner of label/sticky-note applicator supplier Profitpackaging, and Keith Hockenbery, former Muller Martini Mailroom Systems marketing sales and vice president, have founded the Print Packaging Network, Warsaw, Mo., which recruits downsized technical and professional talent from the printing industry and its suppliers.

According to the network, its associates (most semi-retired), contract by the job, keeping down the cost of company overhead and thereby the cost of quality work.

The network offers year-round, round-the-clock telephone support, on-site support (for maintenance, rebuilds, relocations, evaluations, training), technical documentation archiving and electronic availability to facilitate assistance, engineering services modifications, upgrades, workflow improvements), and custom equipment, engineering or project consulting.

Clients include Tribune Co.'s Orlando Sentinel and South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Fort Lauderdale (to rebuild SLS3000 feeders), The Lawrence (Kan.) Journal-World (purchased two Dynaric NP-2 strappers), Gannett (GMA SLS2000 inserter relocation from the St. Cloud (Minn.) Times to Gannett Offset, Maple Grove.), The East valley Tribune, Mesa, Ariz., and Daily Racing Form (equipment relocations), Atlanta Journal-Constitution (bought 20 hopper loaders for its 1472 inserters), Orange County Register, Santa Ana, Calif., (purchased three Quipp Model 500 stackers).

Now in progress is the relocation of the second of two SLS2000s from New York to North Jersey Media Group's Rockaway Township, N.J., plant, which will print and package Gannett's dailies in White Plains and Poughkeepsie, N .Y. (E&P Online, April 25).

Relying on its own inventory and dealer associates, the network says it can provide new, remanufactured and used parts and equipment of all makes and models.
