Syncronex Manages 'Milwaukee Journal Sentinel' Draw

Posted
By: E&P Staff Milwaukee Journal Sentinel contractors have been using Single Copy Edition from Syncronex, Bellevue, Wash., fully since December 2007. The Journal Sentinel launched Syncronex initially to facilitate entry of draw and return data directly into its circulation system, ensuring data integrity at the outlet level.

It next used the data for better draw management. "Once we collected ample and reliable historical data, we were able to forecast with less task time using Syncronex's Draw Forecasting module," Planning and Warehouse Manager Rick Debroux said in a statement. "The draw setting is very efficient, which allowed us to meet our waste goals consistently without dramatically affecting sales."

The Draw Forecasting add-on enables managers to view daily return and draw information, set percentage goals, and recalculate a suggested new draw. Seeking to reduce daily returns exceeding 30%, the newspaper in February started seeing progress. By March, it was able to maintain return goals of under 24% daily and under 20% Sunday.

"The module allows publishers to perform what-if scenarios at the category or account level and by publication based on previous sales," said Syncronex President Mike Pirello.

Syncronex provides mobile worker technology for the media-distribution market. Its handheld solutions automate critical field and customer processes by integrating enterprise data and simplifying communication through advanced and secure wireless technologies.
