As executive editor, Peterson's responsibilities include overseeing all of the Tacoma paper's print and Web news gathering and editorial operations. "It's an incredible opportunity to lead a staff of this caliber serving a community like this and working for a publisher that I think is going to be as good as I think David Zeeck is going to be. I was honored and thrilled to be asked," Peterson told reporter John Gillie.

Her promotion was announced by David Zeeck, The News Tribune's newly appointed publisher.

Peterson arrived at The News Tribune in 2000 as a local news editor. She was promoted to senior editor in 2002 before becoming managing editor three years ago. Prior to coming to The News Tribune, Peterson was a state education writer, assistant features editor and assistant city editor at The Honolulu Advertiser.
