By: E&P Staff Tampa Bay, Fla. -- Mike Wilson has been named managing editor of the
Tampa Bay Times. He now oversees the day-to-day operations of the newsroom. Wilson began his career at the
Miami Herald and was the primary editor on the
Times’ 2009 Pulitzer Prize-winning story by Lane DeGregory, “The Girl in the Window.” As part of a series of promotions,
Times editor Neil Brown also named a new deputy managing editor, two assistant managing editors and a senior editor.
Jennifer Orsi is now the deputy managing editor in charge of local, metro and business news;
Joe Childs has been named senior editor/at large, continuing his award-winning investigative work on the Church of Scientology and directing strategic business projects for the company;
Ron Brackett was named assistant managing editor/editing & design; and
Amy Hollyfield is now assistant managing editor/politics. Several other editors have taken on new responsibilities, including:
Jack Sheppard, who is deputy managing editor for photo as well as sports;
Jeanne Grinstead, deputy managing editor/features and lifestyles, added enterprise reporting and Sunday Perspective to her features portfolio; and
Pat Farnan was named assistant managing editor/digital and will be the primary supervisor of our online reporting efforts at tampabay.com.
Anne Glover, who most recently was in charge of tampabay.com/things-to-do, was promoted to digital content editor.
