Tansa Bags More Canadian Customers

Posted
By: E&P Staff Tansa Systems, Oslo, Norway, and Lakewood Ranch, Fla., has sold its Tansa Text Proofing System to The Toronto Star and CityMedia Group Inc. for use by their Ontario dailies.

The Toronto Star will integrate the Tansa software with a CCI Europe NewsDesk system. At CityMedia Group, The Hamilton Spectator and The Record, in Kitchener, will integrate the software with the Quark Publishing System.

Tansa will customize a dictionary for each daily. As part of a separate licensing agreement signed recently with Oxford University Press in Canada, these dictionaries will include the word list from the Canadian Oxford Dictionary.

Implementation has begun at the CityMedia Group papers and is to begin shortly at the Star. All are expected to start using Tansa early next year.

Tansa's first Canadian customer was Gesca Ltd., which bought the text-proofing system for its French-language publications, including Montreal's La Presse earlier this year.
