Tansa Upgrades Text-Proofing System

Posted
By: E&P Staff Tansa Systems AS, Oslo, Norway, released an upgrade to its text-proofing and hyphenation system, which proofreads content in phrases of up to seven words at a time -- for checking not only spelling, but also usage and style. It accomplishes this by checking the words in documents against several dictionaries and sets of style rules customized for an organization.

Completely rewritten to provide better performance, scalability and a new method of integration, Tansa System 3 features completely revised server applications with platform-independent client-server communication based on an XML and SOAP-based (Simple Object Access Protocol) Web Service; native Tansa clients for Microsoft Word, Adobe InDesign and InCopy CS; dictionaries with better routines for working with names, abbreviations and punctuation; improved user interface for client (with adjustable windows, page dividers and shortcut keys) for proofing and hyphenation; and an improved administrator tool.

Editorial workflow solution partners selling Tansa (AMC, SaxoTech, Wilkenson SCOOP, Unisys, TietoEnator InfoPress) work to ensure that the text-proofing tools function properly within their content production systems.
