Tara Duggan joins San Francisco Chronicle's Food & Wine team

The San Francisco Chronicle is pleased to announce that Tara Duggan has returned to the Food & Wine desk as a food reporter.

Duggan first joined the Chronicle in 1999 as a food writer focused on cooking and recipes after training as a chef at the California Culinary Academy. (She went on to publish five cookbooks, including “The Blue Bottle Craft of Coffee,” “The Working Cook” and “Root-to-Stalk Cooking.”)

She spent nearly 20 years on the desk, earning a James Beard Award and covering restaurant news alongside important areas like food security, policy and agriculture, and the rise of food technology. She published one of the most prominent #MeToo restaurant investigations in the country and a gripping narrative about a fisherman finding treasure on the bottom of the ocean, which became an episode of the podcast “Snap Judgment.”

After five years on the climate beat — covering sea level rise, wildlife and turmoil at the San Francisco Zoo — she’s ready to come back to food.
