Tarboro 'Daily Southerner' Appoints New Publisher

By: A publisher who has run newspaper operations in Virginia and Florida will head The Daily Southerner in Tarboro.

Mosby L. "Chip" Wigginton Jr. was introduced as publisher to his staff on Monday afternoon by Linnie Pride, a vice president and division manager for parent company Community Newspaper Holdings Inc.

The 57-year-old Wigginton comes to Tarboro from Virginia, where he directed the sales, service, promotion and marketing efforts for Lakeway Publishers of Virginia, a group of 7 weekly newspapers.

He also is president of Wigg Works, a design, marketing and promotions firm in Midlothian, Va.

In 2006, Wigginton became publisher of the News-Sun in Sebring, Fla., and he said that's when fell in love with community journalism.
