Ted Rall Moves Up to AAEC Prez as Rex Babin Becomes Prez-Elect

By: Dave Astor Universal Press Syndicate creator Ted Rall today officially moved from president-elect to president of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists (AAEC), and a new slate of 2008-9 officers was elected as well.

The incoming president-elect is Rex Babin of The Sacramento (Calif.) Bee and King Features Syndicate, and the new vice president is Steve Kelley of The Times-Picayune in New Orleans and Creators Syndicate.

Reelected secretary-treasurer was V. Cullum Rogers of The Independent Weekly in Durham, N.C.

Chosen as directors were John Branch of The San Antonio (Texas) Express-News and King, Jeff Parker of Florida Today and the Cagle Cartoons syndicate, and self-syndicated cartoonist Mikhaela Reid.

Rall -- who's also a syndicated columnist and United Media's acquisition and development editor -- succeeds Nick Anderson of the Houston Chronicle and Washington Post Writers Group as president.

Anderson will remain on the AAEC board as immediate past president, replacing Rob Rogers of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and United.
