Telnaes Leaves 'Six Chix' Comic Lineup

By: Dave Astor Ann Telnaes is no longer contributing to the "Six Chix" comic distributed by King Features Syndicate.

"I have some other projects and ideas I wanted to pursue, so I needed to reclaim some of my time," said Telnaes, who won the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning.

Telnaes was replaced by Carla Ventresca, who worked in advertising before becoming a greeting card creator and co-creator of the "On a Claire Day" comic.

Like Telnaes, Ventresca will do the Thursday "Six Chix" cartoon each week. The other five contributors to the 2000-launched feature are Isabella Bannerman (Mondays), Margaret Shulock (Tuesdays), Rina Piccolo (Wednesdays), Kathryn LeMieux (Fridays), and Stephanie Piro (Saturdays). The cartoonists take turns doing the Sunday "Six Chix."

Telnaes' editorial cartoons are distributed by the Cartoonists & Writers Syndicate/New York Times Syndicate.
