for excellence in international health reporting was presented to California writer John Cohen of Science magazine and Nancy Stancill of The Charlotte (N.C.) Observer. Each will receive a cash prize of $1,500. The award was established to encourage coverage of issues related to global health. All entries for the 1999 awards for best U.S. broadcast, magazine, and newspaper stories are due Oct. 15, 1999.
