The Bakersfield Californian has announced the hiring of four new members to the publication:
Antonie Boessenkool is the new city hall reporter. She previously was the business reporter at
Defense News in Washington, D.C., and has also worked at Dow Jones Newswires and C-SPAN.
Rachel Cook has been named breaking news/night general assignment reporter. She previously served as crime reporter for the
Post Register in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Stacey Shepard was named associate opinion editor. She previously covered the environment for The Californian and has worked as a project manager at The Great Valley Center, a regional non-profit.
Kellie Schmitt has joined as a health reporter. She previously worked in China as a regular contributor to CNNgo.com, and, prior to that, as a reporter for The Recorder and the San Jose Mercury News.
