The Blade Names New Newspaper President

William A. Southern, director of finance and information technology at The Blade, today succeeds Joseph H. Zerbey IV as president and general manager of The Blade and as vice president of newspaper operations for Block Communications Inc.

Mr. Zerbey, 73, is retiring and relinquishing those roles, the company announced. However, he will keep his connection to the company by becoming a consultant to Block Communications and maintaining a residence in Toledo, said Allan Block, chairman of Block Communications, which is the parent company of The Blade.
