By: E&P Staff The Cartoon Network (CN) has ordered a second season of "The Boondocks" TV program, according to a Mediaweek story.

CN's "Adult Swim" block of programs signed on for 20 new episodes of the animated series. The episodes are scheduled to start running in late 2006.

Mediaweek -- a sister publication of E&P -- said "The Boondocks" show "has been a ratings winner for Adult Swim since it debuted on Nov. 6, 2005, to 2.3 million viewers, making it the highest-rated series premiere in the five-year history of the network."

The series made news this week when the Rev. Al Sharpton criticized last week's episode showing the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. using the "N" word.

"The Boondocks" series is based on Aaron McGruder's comic of the same name. The strip has about 300 newspaper and online clients, according to Universal Press Syndicate.
