Miles Reed has been appointed managing editor of The Daily Gazette, editor Judy Patrick announced.
Reed will oversee the newsroom operations of the media company, which provides news and information in print and online to the Capital Region. The position has been vacant since the promotion of Patrick to editor in 2013.
Reed, 48, started at The Gazette as a reporter in 1995. Since then, he has worked in a variety of reporting and editing positions, most recently serving as the newspaper's city editor.
"Miles cares about our communities and cares about great journalism," Patrick said. "His enthusiasm and dedication will help us continue to report on compelling, interesting and important news."
A graduate of Niskayuna High School and the University at Albany, Reed lives in Saratoga Springs with his wife, Kimberly Marks Reed, and their three children.
