The Dallas Morning News reporters and editors, as well as staffers from the Spanish-language publication, Al Día, and the fashion, design and lifestyle magazine,
FD Luxe, received a combined 20 first-place awards for journalism excellence at the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors 2013 awards presentation. Alfredo Carbajal, managing editor of
Al Día, also received the Jack Douglas Award for significant contributions to Texas journalism.
The Morning News, Al Día and
FD Luxe journalists were honored with more first-place awards than any other newspaper in the AAAA category, which includes newspapers with the largest circulations in Texas.

Brooks Egerton, Miles Moffeit and Reese Dunklin won a Headliners Excellence in Journalism Award, as well as the Freedom of Information Award and the Star Investigative Report of the Year. In addition,
The Dallas Morning News’ staff won the Star Online Package of the Year across all divisions.

Each year the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors joins with the Headliners Foundation of Texas to recognize the state’s daily newspapers for excellence in journalism, as well as other general categories that highlight publications and journalists from around Texas.
