David Erdman, publisher and editor-in-chief of The Morning Call

David M. Erdman, publisher and editor-in-chief of The Morning Call in Allentown, Pa., is retiring after 35 years.

Erdman started at the newspaper in 1981 as a rookie reporter in the Bethlehem, Pa. bureau, rose through the ranks and took over the newsroom as editor in 2009. In that time, his tenure spanned three owners and he became the face and heart of The Morning Call, seamlessly guiding the newspaper through a difficult industry climate while still reading its front page stories daily.

Erdman announced he will retire to focus on health issues and spend more time with his family.
