I’ve lived the golden age of photography. When I was a young newspaperman, photojournalists were kings, they made big money crisscrossing the world on prestigious assignments for Time, Newsweek, Paris-Match, or elite photo agencies such as Sygma or Gamma. Twenty years later, quite a few photojournalists are now on welfare, others struggle with cheap commercial jobs, and the once prestigious agencies have all but vanished.
Moore’s Law has killed the genre in at least two ways.
