Pleasantville, NJ, October 21, 2011-  This month The Press of Atlantic City Media Group transformed its web site PressofAtlanticCity.com from a free news web site to a subscription-based, or Paywall site. As of the first Monday, or October 3, those who access news and information online are asked to sign on for the service.

Using the services of Journalism Online/Press+, the site asks viewers to subscribe after they have accessed 10 article pages in any 30-day period. Obituaries, classifieds, and photo galleries are exempt from the Paywall as is the Home Page and Section Fronts. During critical news or urgent inclement weather, the entire site will remain free as a public service. Seven-day-a-week print subscribers will have free access to the site all the time, after registering.

According to Press of Atlantic City publisher Keith Dawn, the Paywall re-establishes the value received by regular news readers of South Jersey’s #1 news web site. PressofAtlanticCity.com has grown to more than 4 million monthly page views; showing that web news has become the source for breaking news and valuable audio and video content that differentiate it from print. The site has matured to a point where it has its own identity and audience.

The Press of Atlantic City, covering most of southern New Jersey, is the fourth largest newspaper in the state.  Based in Pleasantville, New Jersey, The Presss mission is, “To inform and engage our audiences and to help businesses succeed.” Recently, The Press was awarded one of “10 Newspapers That Do It Right” by Editor & Publisher magazine.
