NEW YORK: The Sidney Hillman Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of our new blog, Clear It With Sidney, by Lindsay Beyerstein.

Click here to watch Beyerstein and Hillman Executive Director Alexandra Lescaze discuss the new blog and how it advances the mission of the foundation.

Clear It With Sidney is a blog about journalism for the common good. Beyerstein highlights critical stories, talks with some of the top investigative and feature writers in the business, and provides a forum for people who believe that journalism should shine a light on all of our struggles and stories. Each day, Beyerstein culls the very best reporting from the web and beyond to disseminate it to a wider audience.

The blog also serves as a home base for nominations for the foundation's monthly Sidney Awards, which recognize important work on social and economic justice issues. Recent winning stories include an exposé of brutal conditions at an Amazon.com warehouse, an  investigation into ALEC, an obscure but powerful conservative group that brings state legislators and corporations together to write laws, and  Jose Antonio Vargas's essay on coming out as an undocumented immigrant.

Beyerstein, along with occasional guest bloggers, cover topics like income inequality, immigration, the labor movement, and the role of social media and citizen journalism.

Lindsay Beyerstein is an award-winning investigative journalist. Her reporting has appeared in Duly Noted for In These Times. Her photography has been published in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times' City Room, Time, and other outlets.

As a national political reporter for In These Times, Lindsay won a Project Censored Award for a story about terrorism and civil liberties.  As a freelance journalist, she has reported extensively on the economy, health care, and reproductive rights.

In 2007, she delivered the Norman E. Richardson Memorial Lecture at Gettysburg College on the subject of objectivity in journalism.  She received support from the Rappaport Foundation to cover the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in 2005.

The Sidney Hillman Foundation honors excellence in journalism in service of the common good. Our awards and programs honor the legacy and vision of union pioneer and New Deal architect Sidney Hillman. For more information go to:  www.hillmanfoundation.org
