The Washington Post expands games suite with 'Keyword'

Posted

The Washington Post today introduces “Keyword,” the latest addition to its growing suite of online games. A play on a typical crossword puzzle, “Keyword’s” clues consist of six words, each containing a missing letter, in contrast to the sentence clues of a crossword. The objective of the game is to fill in the blank spaces of each word in order to unveil the six-letter keyword. This is the third game in The Post’s catalogue.

"Our readers have embraced the expanding portfolio of interactive games with a surge in user engagement. In the past year alone, our user play rate has grown by 70 percent," said Jessica Gilbert, head of product. "It is our mission to serve our readers and part of that is providing a range of offerings outside the boundaries of conventional news products. Keyword is the next endeavor to ensure that our readers continue to find new and exciting ways to engage with The Post.”

The Post additionally is launching a dedicated page for easy access to all games, including On The Record, a daily news quiz launched in February that challenges players to identify notable quotes from top stories.

A new edition of “Keyword” will publish seven days a week at midnight ET and can be accessed on desktop, mobile web and the Post app.
