The Washington Post today announced that Johanna Mayer-Jones will be promoted to chief advertising officer, a new role within the organization that leads revenue through advertising and client-based solutions. Mayer-Jones will report to The Post's Chief Revenue Officer, yet to be announced.

"I am thrilled to promote Johanna to chief advertising officer, a new role that expands her focus across the entire Client Solutions team, building a strong advertising business for The Washington Post," said Patty Stonesifer, interim Washington Post CEO. "She is a bold and visionary leader who has won the respect of clients and colleagues and will continue to identify and bolster business opportunities."

Mayer-Jones joined The Post as head of North American Client Partnerships in July 2022. Over the past year, she has worked with the team to strengthen the paper's commitment to clients and evolve its business to meet marketplace expectations. Previously, she was at The Atlantic as the senior vice president of partnerships, leading the publisher's global sales and account management teams. Before joining The Atlantic, Mayer-Jones held several senior sales and marketing roles with The Wall Street Journal in New York and Hong Kong.

"I feel privileged to have worked alongside some of the greatest news teams in the world and supported their businesses during moments of undeniable relevance and responsibility. Given The Washington Post's global presence, credibility and ambition, we have a unique opportunity to solidify ourselves as an innovative publisher and advertising partner," said Mayer-Jones. "I am thrilled to continue to support world-class journalism at a moment where I believe The Washington Post is more important than ever."

A London native, Mayer-Jones earned her BA from the University of Leeds. Her new role is effective immediately.
