By: E&P Staff The Telegraph of Nashua, N.H., and two newspapers in Newfoundland, Canada -- The Telegram and The Western Star -- have all announced they will e-commerce enable their online classified ads with CityXpress Corp.'s eClassifiedsXpress.
The Telegraph will be integrating the eClassifiedXpress platform into its own classifieds Web site and online ad-taking system. At the two Canadian papers, eClassifiedXpress will provide the complete platform for a new online-only classified marketplace being launching by the two papers. The package there includes an online ad-taking system that allows sellers to submit their classified ads, a classifieds Web site that allows ads to be browsed or searched; and e-commerce capability.
The Canadian system will cover the entire province of Newfound and is scheduled to launch in mid-January. The Nashua, N.H., system is also scheduled to launch then.
"More and more newspapers are discovering the value of eClassifiedsXpress to respond to online competition by companies such as eBay and Craigslist," Phil Dubois, the president and CEO of CityXpress, said in a statement. "It's no secret that newspapers are losing classified revenue to these companies, and we believe eClassifiedXpress is a key part of the solution newspapers are looking for."
